WeirdCo Creative Director Jonny Erner explains Precision Vectorized Texturing (PVT) for Cyberpunk TCG highest rarity cards

Jonny Erner details how PVT adds tactile texture to Secret and Iconic Rare cards, enhancing art without overwhelming it.

In a recent Q&A, WeirdCo Creative Director Jonny Erner explained the studio's Precision Vectorized Texturing (PVT) approach. PVT adds custom textured linework aligned to each card's art, highlighting key details and bringing the image to life in a tactile way. The technique was developed after testing various texturing methods, settling on a subtle, deliberate application that works best when aligned with the artwork.

Erner noted that PVT is applied more subtly on Secret Rare cards like July Álvarez: Nothing to Doubt, while Iconic Adam Smasher: Metal Over Meat features a wider range of textures to match the artwork's complexity. The team avoids over‑texturing, which can detract from the art, and instead uses PVT to make the amazing art pop.

Alongside PVT, WeirdCo uses a similar hand‑drawn approach for cold foiling on Iconic Rare cards, ensuring each card looks its best. The work on set 1 has informed plans for future sets, with further layers of texturing and expanded foiling techniques anticipated.
